Is your athlete not getting the results she wants under pressure?

When I was working on this lesson plan around getting results even when under pressure, the first thing I was thinking about was that having confidence and getting those results when your daughter is feeling the pressure comes way before that exact moment.

Creating confidence and results happens outside of the game, even outside of practices.

Here’s how you can help your daughter work on what she thinks about herself as an athlete (aka self-talk)!

👉 Talk about what thoughts she is having when she’s under pressure

It’s good to just get these out into the open!

Remind her that it’s okay to have these thoughts, worries, fears, and doubts. It’s totally normal.

👉  Ask her how those thoughts she is having when under pressure is making her feel

It’s also good to notice how certain thoughts are making us feel - creates some great awareness

👉 Have her write down or share what she wants to think about herself as an athlete? What does she want to believe about herself and her performance under pressure?

Here’s where the magical affirmations are created!

You can help her practice these by writing them down, memorizing them, and writing them on something she’ll see during practices/games. You can help her by reminding her of the affirmations and what she wants to believe about herself!

I know you were hoping for some fairy dust to make her get those results under pressure, but it all starts at home, at lessons, with you. Practice - not so glamorous, but it works! AND, it will help you feel more at ease when it's her turn to execute!

By the way, we are working on this in lesson plans THIS WEEK! So, if you want me to help her work on this, sign her up!

You’ve got this!
